It started with a vision of providing the residents of the Imperial Valley with a comfortable and casual location, where they could have a great tasting, high quality burger, accompanied by a refreshing, ice-cold beer, all at an affordable price. Kurt Honold, Owner and Founder of Burgers & Beer, took this vision to the next level and gave the Imperial Valley it's first taste of burger bliss in 1985, when he opened the doors to the very first Burgers & Beer restaurant, located in Calexico, CA.
In 1986, only one year after first opening it's doors, the word of "the best burgers in town" had quickly spread across the Imperial Valley, forcing Burgers & Beer to open an additional location in El Centro, CA, and the cravings didn't stop there. In 1989, Burgers & Beer opened its 3rd location in Brawley, CA, which was closed sometime later. The state of Arizona was the next target, and in 1991 Yuma, AZ was included in the Burgers & Beer restaurant craze. By 1997, with the success of the other locations, it was decided to close the original Calexico location, and open a newer, larger, more appealing location for all of Calexico to enjoy. After testing the market for additional locations, 2004 found Burgers & Beer spreading the love by opening a location in Indio, CA.
2005 was by far a standout year for Burgers & Beer. The original El Centro location was being remodeled, and with the grand opening of the Imperial Valley Mall too came the grand opening of Burgers & Beer's newest location- Burgers & Beer in the mall! Shortly after the remodeling of El Centro's location was complete, the crowds gathered for a glimpse and even more so, for a taste! Burgers & Beer now had a new look and feel. With the addition of several widescreen TV's, as well as TV's at every booth, a full bar with a diverse selection of beers and mixed drinks, a sports themed atmosphere, an ever expanding menu with a wide range of meal choices, and new "open late" hours, Burgers & Beer made an immediate impact on taste buds all across the Imperial Valley.
Not only has Burgers & Beer come to be known for it's delicious food and wonderful environment, but it has also garnered much acclaim for its involvement with the community, including event, sport and a variety of other youth activity sponsorships. Throughout its history, Burgers & Beer has been owned and operated by family and prides itself on its family friendly appeal. Several Burgers & Beer employees have been with the company since day one, with no plans of going elsewhere, and why would they? Nobody can beat the BEST BURGERS IN TOWN!!!
